VGA Individual and 2-man Team Challenge:
Throughout the year, VGA-Atlanta golfers will have the opportunity to challenge the reigning cup holder(s).
For $20, you (the challenger) have the opportunity to take the CUP from the CUP holder. If you can successfully win and defend the CUP twice, the CUP is yours to keep. You also automatically qualify for the “Champion of Champs” tournament at the end of the year. Half of the $ collected, will go to charity at the end of the year, so you can’t lose.
Formats are match play and total score. Both formats will be based on your handicap. To win the cup, you must win at least one format and tie the other format. As the CUP holder, you retain your CUP by winning 1 of 2 formats. This is a great way to challenge fellow VGA golfers and legitimize your “bragging” rights!

- Dec 2010 Thai/Linh won the CUP against Duc/Steven - Jan 8: Thai/Linh successfully defended the CUP against Tung/Quoc. One more win and they get to keep the CUP - Jan 22: To everyone's surprise, Bruce/Jimmy took the CUP from Thai/Linh - March 12: Bruce/Jimmy lost their cup to new challengers Chris/Steve - March 13: After holding the cup for less than 24 hours, Chris/Steve lost the team cup to Luc/Antrach - April 8: With a 22 handicap, no one was ready to challege Luc/Antrach for the team cup until Tung, who shot a 73 and won March's outing, came calling. Tung and Quoc successfully took the cup on April 8 and await the next team challenge. - April 30: Tung Quoc defeated Thaiger and Linh. - May 14: Luc jumped the gun and took the challege again! This time teaming with Pat, but the result was the same. Tung and Quoc successfully defeated the cup 3 times. Congrates to CT and QT (Captain Tung and Quoc Tom) |
- Jan 8: Linh won the CUP against Quoc - Jan 22: Linh defended the individual CUP from Bruce (2010 long drive winner) - March 12: Linh successfully captured the first VGA individual cup by beating Tung Ngo. Congratulations to Linh Truong!
- April 8: Chris and Thai started a new individual challenge. Matching with Tiger Wood's Saturday round at the Master, Thaiger shot 50 front 9. Thaiger closed with 39 in the back 9, but was too late to match Chris' round of 84. - April 9: Chirs' next challenger, Antrach Dinh, was no better than Thaiger the day before. We dont want to give away Antrach's terrible round, but Chris basically won shooting left handed! - Sometime in May: With so much pressure to win the individual cup, Chris lost the cup to Duc. - May 28: Tung took the individual cup with ease! Giving Duc 6 strokes, Tung had pletty to spare!
